I thought you would enjoy some background information on the beautiful image I use
by artist Sophie Anderson
and to share some more of her incredible works with you.

A painting by Sophie Gengembre Anderson
French, 1823 - 1903

The full title of this painting is: "Take the Fair Face of Woman, and Gently Suspending, With Butterflies, Flowers, and Jewels Attending, Thus Your Fairy is Made of Most Beautiful Things" (Charles Ede)

Genre, landscape and portrait painter. Born in Paris where she studied under Steuben. Her father being French, her early years were spent in France, but with the outbreak of the 1848 Revolution, she and her family left for America. There she established herself as a successful portrait painter and married an English artist, Walter Anderson.

In 1854 they came to England, and in 1855 she began to exhibit genre pictures at the Royal Academy. Around 1871 she moved to Capri because of ill-health. Eventually she returned to England and lived in Falmouth. Died in 1903.

Here are more of her incredible paintings.
